Jan Olivas was born and raised in New York and earned her bachelor's degree in fine art at St. John's University.  In the early 90's she moved to Texas where she married Sidro Olivas, professional polo player, this is where her passion for painting polo began. 
 
Her subject matter ranges from landscapes to horses, some on the edge of abstraction.  Jan's medium of choice is acrylics.  Whatever she is painting, the incorporation of collage elements and different textures are always exciting to her.  Many of her paintings are inspired by scripture, which she also incorporates into many of her pieces.
